Pablo Neruda is my muse

Girl Lithe and Tawny

Girl lithe and tawny, the sun that forms
the fruits, that plumps the grains, that curls seaweeds
filled your body with joy, and your luminous eyes
and your mouth that has the smile of the water.

A black yearning sun is braided into the strands
of your black mane, when you stretch your arms.
You play with the sun as with a little brook
and it leaves two dark pools in your eyes.

Girl lithe and tawny, nothing draws me toward you.
Everything bears me farther away, as though you were noon.
You are the frenzied youth of the bee,
the drunkenness of the wave, the power of the wheat-ear.

My sombre heart searches for you, nevertheless,
and I love your joyful body, your slender and flowing voice.
Dark butterfly, sweet and definitive
like the wheat-field and the sun, the poppy and the water.

(From 20 Love Poems and a Song of Despair)

you know, I can kind of tell that you've had an art history course or are familliar with 20th century art.. your stuff, as far as compositon, line quality (expressive sketchiness) color and design-oriented background&figures - it just looks like you've melded influences. I like your nudes, those are nice.

I see you like Klimt..! I like Klimt. I almost bought a book on Klimt but I.. didn't.. I got a Picasso one though. thanks for the +fav, btw.
You're welcome for the +fav. :) I've never had an art history class, but I did take art in high school which had a research component (We had to provide a certain amount of research for each of our pieces). I'm really glad that you could tell that from my art, though; while some people are very attached to the idea of their own personal artistic vision, I'm not one of them. I'd rather take the bits I like from lots of other people and meld them together in an interesting fashion... "a great feast of languages and I have taken the scraps," as it were.

Anyway, thanks very much for the comments... you made me think about how I make art, which is something I don't do enough of.
Yeah, people who want a completely 'original style' ususally havn't realized that that is pretty near impossible. But I actually didn't even mean that you'd taken specific artists' styles and mixed them - it's a more general thing - like the influences are there, but kind of as a whole, and it'd be hard to pick out certain artists and say why you are like them. So to me, that is the good kind of influence :]
*is really, really, really ridiculously flattered*

Excuse me while I buy hats about three times larger... I think my head just grew, especially as you're such a fantastic artist yourself...
Thanks so much for the favourite...

Thanks for the fav. You've got an interesting style, I'm kinda interested in seeing more of it. I'll have to stop by again.
